Now in its 28th year, Hobby-X continues to be the heartbeat of the local maker movement – a dynamic space where brands meet hobbyists, where skills are shared, and where creativity takes centre stage.
What to Expect in 2025
The 2025 edition is set to ignite imaginations with an even more interactive and immersive experience. Visitors can look forward to:
· The DIY Room – a hands-on space to test tools, try techniques, and get inspired.
· Art in Action – live demonstrations by talented artists, from painting and illustration to crafts and design.
· The Man Cave – for those who love woodworking, model building, tech, gaming, and classic hobbies.
· Collectibles & Gaming Zones – for fans of pop culture, fantasy, and all things imaginative.
· Kids’ Creative Corner – keeping the little hands busy with crafts, games, bungee trampoline, a paintball tunnel and interactive sessions.
And of course – workshops, demos, product launches, competitions, giveaways, and thousands of ideas all under one roof.
A Creative Playground for All
From pottery and crochet to cupcake decorations, 3D printing, and resin art – Hobby-X brings together every kind of maker, creator, and enthusiast. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned expert, there’s something for everyone.
“Hobby-X is where passion meets possibility,” says Michael Dehn, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt South Africa. “It’s not just about finding your like-minded hobby buddies or discovering something new – it is also about finding your people, your tools, and even your next opportunity. With just one machine and a whole lot of creativity, what starts as a hobby can easily grow into a business.”
Where It’s Happening
The show will once again take place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit – a familiar and well-loved venue that offers space, accessibility, and the energy to match the creative buzz of the event.
