Each year, a wide spectrum of materials, equipment, supplies and ideas are showcased to the general public, encouraging South Africans to take up a creative craft or hobby.
Hobby-X was initially launched in 1998 and has grown exponentially over the past 23 years. It is now a highly popular event, attracting tens of thousands of visitors to each show. Professional hobbyists and those who are in search of a creative outlet come from all over South Africa in search of materials, supplies, equipment, ideas and techniques. The idea to bring about such a show was inspired by our busy, fast-paced lifestyles, and how for many of us, we don't grant ourselves that necessary 'me-time'. At Hobby-X, a range of activities are put on display, catering to all sorts of interests and preferences. Whether you're looking for an 'on-the-side' business idea or looking for fun stuff to do with the family, there is a little something for everyone at Hobby-X.
Attendees are encouraged to induldge their creative side and peruse the many stalls for gems, books, mosaics, metal clays, model cars, planes and trains, cooking, card making and so much more. Alternatively, if you're looking for some fun, stock up the house with some games, bungee trampolines and radio-controlled models. Those who are interested in learning more about their chosen craft can attend a range of workshops and demonstrations by experts in the field.
Come along for four-days of fun and get inspired to take up a new hobby!
About the organisers
Messe Frankfurt: Business model for global business
Messe Frankfurt is one of the world’s leading trade fair, congress and event organisers with their own exhibition grounds. For some 800 years, we have been bringing people together at our events, both in Frankfurt and throughout the world. Whether with our trade fairs, congresses or other events, with digital or analogue services – everything we do has always been focused on interaction between people. This is something that we have perfected throughout our long history.
With approximately 2,200 employees at 28 locations, we work virtually around the clock and around the globe to further the interests of our customers. Despite the very difficult conditions in 2021, some 1.4 million visitors (2019: 5.1 million) and more than 30,000 (2019: 99.246) exhibiting companies put their trust in the efficiency of our international network the quality of our events and the digital expertise of Messe Frankfurt.
Messe Frankfurt brings together future trends with new technologies, people with markets, and supply with demand. Where different perspectives and industry sectors come together, we create scope for new collaborations, projects and business models.
